REAR NAKED SCOPE!
For any one familiar with the domestic UK scene, specifically in the North East, the name Ryan Scope may sound familiar. That's because Ryan has been competing for many years now, the scary thing is, this kids only just turned 19.
Scope (3-0) is a training partner of UFC fighter Ross Pearson and has worked his way up the amateur and semi-pro ranks. Coming in to his fight with a late change in opponent, Scope showed immense confidence in agreeing to take on James Mair (8-5-0) but the outcome of the fight proved he had every right to be.
Although it was quite late when the fight actually took place, both fighters looked strong in their stand up trying to close the distance on each other. Scope proceed to land some stiff jabs but quickly chose to take the fight to the ground with a well timed take down. Mair is no push over and managed to keep scope in half guard.
Scope then started to land with some decent ground and pound and transitioned to mount with Mair almost immediately giving Scope his back to avoid anymore punishment. Scope then controlled his opponents back well and locked in the RNC, forcing the Scotsman to tap three minutes in to the first round.
It would be wrong to expect too much form the 19 year old at this stage, but it is safe to say that Scope will soon be in the mix with a wealth of exciting North East talent at 77kg. Scope now has a 3-0 Pro MMA record and adds the Total Combat British belt to his credentials.
