UFC veteran Jason Tan turns top UK grappling promoter
January 25th 2011

Former UFC fighter and Liverpool resident Jason Tan is taking his ever growing grappling competition ‘Ground Control’ on the road. The popular event will be taking over London on February 27th and is looking like a sell out already!

How are things going leading up to the event? Ready to go?

Hi guys, things are good! I can’t wait to do our first event in London! There’s been phenomenal interest so far from the MMA gyms and BJJ clubs in the London area so it should be awesome. There’s still a bit of work that needs doing between now and then but we will be ready to go for sure. I know you guys get a tonne of fans checking the website so can I just put it out there that if any one still wants to get in touch they can do with pleasure, but be quick!

Are you expecting any big differences in the event with it being held in the capital?

I don’t think there will be too many differences, we have made a few rule changes that will allow a few more submissions and should make the action even more entertaining though. The big difference will be who is taking part, as I think for a lot of guys it will be the first time that they have competed at one of our events. Ground Control always produces some new superstars so it will be good to see what London can produce!

What should participants expect to take away from the event?

People should take away a great experience. All competitors will get at least two bouts and there are MMA clothing prizes on offer and CASH prizes for the top 3 teams. I think in general participants can create new friendships with others athletes from other gyms, and be able to see what the level is like in a sport which doesn't have that many competitions like this in the country.

What does the future hold?

We will be straight back to Manchester on Sunday March 27th after this event! We will be offeringcash and apparel prizes all the way through the year and will be doing at least eight events this year! It’s definitely going to be a busy year that’s for sure, so stay tuned and keep checking us on Twitter, Facebook and our website for updates!
