Asian organisation ONE FC has announced the signing of a television deal with Indonesia’s largest and only integrated media company, Media Nusantara Citra (MNC).
Under the terms of the deal, ONE FC content will air on MNC’s free-to-air and highest-rated sports channel, Global TV, which will air monthly ONE FC content to millions of Indonesian homes 200 cities and towns across the country.
Tying in with the broadcast deal, ONE FC has announced that it will be hosting its first event in Indonesia on 11 February, 2012 at the Kelapa Gading Sports Mall.
Victor Cui, CEO and owner of ONE Fighting Championship, said, “Indonesia has always had a huge fan following for professional fighting. We cannot wait to hold our first event for the 2012 season right here in Jakarta on 11 February.
“We are very pleased to have MNC’s Global TV as our partner in bringing the best of Asian MMA events the world has ever seen!”
ONE FC has also confirmed a partnership with World Boxing Association (WBA) champion Chris John as the its ‘brand ambassador’ for Indonesia. John is the current WBA Super World featherweight boxing champion and only the third Indonesian to ever win a boxing world title.
Indonesia might not mean a lot to Western fans but it is a potentially huge market - an archipelago comprising approximately 13,000 islands, It has 33 provinces with over 238 million people, and is the world's fourth most populous country.
In addition it is a popular tourist destination for Australian and New Zealand travellers, which ONE FC could potentially tap into for its live audiences.
