Muhammad ‘King Mo’ Lawal faces a fine and a suspension from mixed martial arts after testing positive for Drostanolone at his Strikeforce fight with Lorenz Larkin earlier this month.
The light-heavyweight’s positive test was notified to Fighters Only by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Tuesday.
Responding to a Fighters Only query, NSAC executive Keith Kizer added that “the matter has been referred to the Attorney General’s office for issuance of a complaint for disciplinary action.”
Fighters Only is awaiting a response from Lawal.
Drostanolone is an anabolic steroid that in bodybuilding is frequently employed as a weight-cutting device. It also has a reputation for maintaining muscle strength while decreasing mass.
The other athletes tested following the January 7th event were: Luke Rockhold, Keith Jardine, Robbie Lawler, Tyron Woodley, Tarec Saffiedine, Tyler Stinson, Nah-Shon Burrell, James Terry, Gian Villante, Trevor Smith, Ricky Legere, Chris Spang, Estevan Payan and Alonzo Martinez.
All tested negative for prohibited substances.
