Tasteful comments from Josh Koscheck prior to this weekend’s fight with Mike Pierce at UFC 143.
Having had a long layoff since Georges St. Pierre shattered his eye-socket for him last year, Koscheck now seems to be revelling in the knee ligament damage that St. Pierre has since suffered. Which is fair enough, we suppose, given that these guys are all competing against each other but still… not classy Kos, not classy.
“Hopefully Georges is out for more than 10 months and they can make that interim titleholder fight twice,” he told Ariel Helwani about the Carlos Condit/Nick Diaz fight for the interim welterweight title this weekend.
“Hopefully he never comes back [to peak condition]. ACL surgeries can take a lot out of you. They say you truly don’t recover after those. I’ve had friends who have had those and they say they’re not the same so hopefully it equals out the playing field and we can get another crack at Georges.”
Quite what value a win over a decrepit St. Pierre would add to Koscheck’s legacy is debatable, but he probably doesn’t care. Being the champion is worth millions in revenue and sponsorship, so legacy can probably kiss Koscheck’s ass by comparison.
