Just when he thought he was out, they have pulled him back in.

Not long after getting out of jail at the end of a year-long sentence for felony assault, Jon Koppenhaver aka ‘War Machine’ has been returned to prison for another year on a separate charge.

The nature of the charge is not known but stems from an incident which took place before the one which got him his most recent sentence.

He broke the news in a series of posts on his Twitter account:

“Seems my year in jail wasn’t enough. Just got sentenced to another year in Vegas for some old bullsh-t. Nevermind I’m rehabilitated. Nevermind”

“I’ve been out for over 6 months now and doing great and am finally back on my feet. Nevermind all my students that will miss me. Do another year and rot n waste time. Make no money, pay no taxes. Whatever, I just hope my boy @bensaundersMMA wins @BellatorMMA tournament.”

“Fu-k the motherfu-king system! Fu-k the bullshit! Vacation time, back to jail in 2 weeks!”

“Cant stop me, all you can do is delay the inevitable. War Machine will always be back!”

“Oh ya the judge looked and me and said she can tell I’m on steroids and that thats prolly why I got in so many fights and am angry… lol bitch.”


To say his life has been turbulent up to this point would be an understatement. Characterised by bar brawls, PR gaffes and fallouts with both the UFC and Bellator, Koppenhaver has made a complete mess of almost everything he got involved with.

He has a volatile personality and a seeming inability to control his mouth or his temper but to be fair, in the months since leaving jail, it seemed that Koppenhaver was doing well and was taking the right steps to get his life on track, establishing himself as an instructor and keeping out of trouble.

Now he has another year inside to deal with, after which he can hopefully get out and get back on the same positive path he seemed to be setting for himself before this latest setback.
