Heavyweight former Pride FC champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira was the butt of many a Chael Sonnen joke in recent years.

So he was surprised when he bumped into the would-be middleweight contender and the American was all smiles.

In a conversation with Sportv.com, Nogueira revealed that Chael Sonnen tried to justify the insults he had been directing towards Nogueira brothers saying his words were just marketing and that the heavyweight ought not give attention to his words.

Nogueira was not interested though and says he told "the asshole" Sonnen not to go near him. According to Nogueira, Matt Lindland witnessed the scene and tried to separate them, saying that Sonnen had just been marketing himself.

That was not sufficient to decrease the Brazilian’s anger. Since then, Sonnen has continued the habitual provocations. He has also said he would fight at heavyweight or light-heavyweight and Nogueira would love to oblige him.

“I like to face guys like Sonnen, who talk a lot of bullshit. It motivates so much. I wouldn’t even sleep the days before, I would be so excited about beating him up,” Rodrigo said.
