Hector Lombard will fight in a UFC match for the first time on UFC on FOX 4, and his opponent will be Brian Stann.
The former Bellator middleweight champion will face Stann on August 4th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but he is already looking ahead to an encounter with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
“I want to be UFC middleweight champion, and I want to fight Anderson Silva to do it. I have such respect for him as a fighter. It would be an honor and a dream come true to test my skills against his. I've wanted to fight in the UFC all my career. I wouldn't be in the UFC if I didn't think I could win the UFC world title,” Lombard said.
Lombard vacated the Bellator middleweight crown to sign with UFC, and although he has yet to debut under the UFC banner, he’s racked up victories over Jay Silva, Jesse Taylor, Jamie Te Huna, Kalib Starnes, Falaniko Vitale, Joe Doerksen, Trevor Prangley and Brian Ebersole.
Brian Stann won’t prove a pushover for Lombard when the two square off in August. He’s currently 4-1 as a UFC middleweight, although a recent encounter with Chael Sonnen exposed weakness in his ground game.
Sonnen submitted Stann in the second round at UFC 136 after displaying some impressive clinching and takedown skills.
