UFC president Dana White has revealed the promotion is looking to put on a stadium event in Texas, and even hinted at a possible match on the card.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Saturday's UFC of FOX 3 event, White told MMAFrenzy.com a headline superfight is potentially in the works for January 2013: "We're talking about doing some big fights here. If things work out the way, you know, they could, we'd end up doing a big fight probably in January."
The official teased that the big fight in question could be Jon Jones against Anderson Silva. He added that if the match were to come to fruition, it would require a location worthy of the occasion.
"If that fight happens, we're looking at three venues. Obviously, always, Las Vegas is a venue. Dallas, Texas Stadium, and Toronto again, where we could hold huge events. If things go the way that they could go, by January we're already talking about Dallas, Texas Stadium – Cowboys Stadium or whatever they call it."
Cowboys Stadium is home to NFL team the Dallas Cowboys. It has a capacity of 111,000 (with standing room), athough its record attendance is 108,713 for the NBA All-Star game in 2010.
Also in 2010, Manny Pacquiao's boxing match with Joshua Clottey drew 50,994 to the stadium, and WWE is planning to hold Wrestlemania 30 there in 2014.
