All ten heavyweights on the UFC 146 card this weekend are predicting that they are going to win by stoppage.
And the statistics bear that out - more than 70 per cent of heavyweight fights do not go the distance. Of those that are finished, the majority end by TKO, followed by KO and then submission
Eight of the ten heavyweights on this weekend’s card predict themselves to win by KO or TKO, while Frank Mir and Stefan Struve are predicting submission wins for themselves.
The card is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Junior dos Santos, making his first defence of the belt, and former champion Mir.
Also on the main card is Cain Velasquez, who lost the belt to Dos Santos on the first UFC on FOX broadcast. He faces Brazil’s Antonio Silva.
The other matches on the main card are Roy Nelson vs. Dave Herman, Stipe Miocic vs. Shane del Rosario and Struve vs. Lavar Johnson.
It is the first time that the UFC has done an all-heavyweight card and, barring some freak occurrence, the chances are high that none of the main-card fights go the distance.
