Clay Guida does not believe there was anything wrong with his performance against Gray Maynard in the main event of UFC on FX 4. On the contrary, he thinks the judges got it wrong and that the decision should have gone his way.
Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Guida said the judges perhaps didn’t know what they were looking for in a mixed martial arts contest. He attended the press conference late and so missed UFC president Dana White’s opening remarks that the fight “sucked” and that Guida was “literally running”.
"I think a little more movement and if I would've landed a few more strikes, I would've gotten the nod. We stuck to the game plan. We were unpredictable.
"He's a big, heavy puncher. The guy hits hard. The guy punches holes in walls for practice, I'm sure, and I didn't want my head to be one of those.
"I thought we stuck to the game plan, we kept him guessing, we ran him out. He was swinging for the fences, and we weren't there.
"I felt good about my performance."
