The UFC has confirmed a light-heavyweight fight for the UFC Nottingham card on September 29.
Swedish kickboxer Jorgen Kruth will take on Brazilian boxer Fabio Maldonado in what has the potential to be a Fight of the Year candidate.
Kruth has held the World Muay Thai Council super-heavyweight title twice and is a legend in the world of Scandinavian fight sports, having competed regularly on the official K-1 circuit in Europe and Japan.
Maldonado has a professional boxing record of 22-0 with 21 of those wins coming by way of stoppage inside the distance.
In MMA he is 18-5 and he is 1-2 in the UFC. However his last fight - against Igor Pokrajac on May 15 - resulted in a decision loss that felt by most observers to be undeserved. Even UFC president Dana White called the decision “a robbery” on Twitter.
UFC Nottingham takes place in the Midlands city of Nottingham, UK on Saturday September 29 at the Capital FM arena. Tickets are on sale now.
