Tim Boetsch is very pleased to hear talk of Hector Lombard being just one win from a middleweight title shot. Lombard makes his UFC debut on Saturday night at UFC 149 against Boetsch, and so Boetsch thinks that if Lombard is apparently in line for a title shot for a win then he should be as well.
“When I first heard that it made me very excited because I would hope that they would then honor the fact then when I take him out in exciting fashion, I’m the next guy in line. I like that sort of pressure and I like the fact they are praising Hector in that manner,” he tells MMA Fighting.
Boetsch is coming off a huge upset stoppage win over Yushin Okami at UFC 144 and is now 3-1 in his last four UFC outings. Okami went into the fight with Boetsch off the back of a loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 134 and so if Boetsch can beat a contender and a Bellator champion back to back, one sees his argument for a title shot.
