Badr Hari arrested following assault charge

Badr Hari arrested following assault charge
July 25th 2012

Former K-1 heavyweight champion Badr Hari may be spending the next few years in a Dutch jail.

He was arrested today by police in Amsterdam after presenting himself at a police station to talk about an incident that took place earlier this month at an all-night rave event, which left a man with a potentially crippling injury.

Hari is accused of being one of several men who assaulted the travel industry entrepreneur Koen Everink and left him hospitalised with face and leg injuries. The worst injury, a broken ankle so bad he may have a permanently affected walking manner, was allegedly Hari’s work.

According to reports, the victim has told investigators that he was floored by his initial attackers and then looked up to see Hari standing over him. The Dutch-Moroccan is then alleged to have cried “Now go to hell!” before stamping heavily on his ankle and breaking it.

The day after the event, Hari and his girlfriend Estelle Gullit - estranged wife of the footballer Ruud Gullit - jetted off for a pre-booked “holiday in the sun”. Police said that he was not yet classed as either witness or suspect so there was no need to prevent him leaving the country.

When he came back this week he was apparently “afraid of being arrested by a SWAT team” and so he made arrangements to hand himself in. When he did so he was arrested at the front desk of the police station and for the time being he will now have contact with nobody except his lawyer, which means he cannot speak to radio reporters as he was doing this week.

Hari has also been accused by an Amsterdam nightclub owner of causing him severe injury in an assault last year. The owner of the Air venue says that he was left with a broken jaw and missing teeth after a kick from Hari but did not press charges at the time after extracting a promise from Hari that he would never return to the club.

News of the latest incident apparently prompted him to reconsider his position and he is now asking Dutch police to press charges. Its another blow for the beleaguered Hari, who has a well-deserved reputation for volatility and aggressive conduct.

A statement is expected tomorrow from Amsterdam police.

    damn(

i still remember words of a Mike's (Badr's trainer) friend in 2010: I asked "when is Badr gonna fight again?", and he replied "to fight? Todays Badr need mental treatment first of all..."

thought it was all over... Though there were signs at the latest K1 Rising tournament, when Badr had obvious difficulties stopping punching and kicking after bell (same as in 2008 fight with Bonjasky, same as in 2010 fight with Gerges)...

Pity Badr isnt in MMA) At least no one would blame him for attacking downed opponents:)

Well, It always easy to attack and reject someone in trouble. But I do beleave that beyond Hari s asults, there is some kind of secret and conspiracy in Europe and a christian countries against muslims who are craving for international recognition. Islam and muslims are facing now what Jews has being enduring 60 years ago. There is hate and segregation, and especially against those who could be a famous models muslims. Provocation and hate in the street and in the media is a example of a new extremist policy against muslims.
Here are the muslims who suffered because they were famous: Malcomx, Mohamed Ali, Tyson. Mikael Jakson....

Nothing to do with Muslims, nothing to do with Islam,Moroccans or whatever conspiracy u might think is being plotted..badr Hari simply is a loose cannon who is presently held in custody for an alledged 6 different assault charges..the one on Koen Everdink being attempted manslaughter in unison..meaning being member of a group trying to kill a person and being held responsable as a group and individually. Besides that there are many many incidents Badr was involved in..like setting fire to a house of a pregnant women who had an argument with a well known Amsterdam crimelord..(and Badr's close friend),beating up Koen, beating up his ex girlfriend ,beating up her brother, beating up a doorman of a club together with some of his hoodlum buddies (one of which smashed the doormans cheekbone with a gun),beating up the owner of a Club and a fight in that very same club, beating up a guy in another club and stabbing a glass in his face..and the list goes on. Badr is beyond reason..do not forget,he has alrady been convicted of an assault and entering of an eldely couple a few years ago together with manager Simon Rutz. Badr hari is the worst thing ever happening to the sport and I hope he will serve a long long prison sentence

crime is crime, no muslim and no man ever attacks weaker people for fun.

By the way, Tyson became muslim while already in prison and is one of nicest guys... Dont compare them. In the US Badr would be already serving lifetime no matter religion...

I hope such cases won't change Europe's humanity laws and open borders. Pity that some people take freedom for making crimes and abusing law system...
