Lee Chadwick (11-10) and Stu Tyrie (5-3) meet in the main event at OMMAC 14, which takes place at the Liverpool Olympia on Saturday night.
The card has been dogged with pull outs from day one, leaving promoter Chris Zorba with a massive head ache, but he has still put together a show that promises plenty of action and I for one cannot wait.
Lee is a former member of the renowned Team Kaobon in Wavertree, Liverpool. He now trains out of Atherton Submission Wrestling in Leigh, Greater Manchester and numbers UFC heavyweight Rob Broughton among his training partners.
JL - Hi Lee, how are your preparations coming along for your upcoming fight at OMMAC 14 - Bring The Pain with Stu Tyrie?
LC - They are going great. Lots of wrestling and boxing - I'm going to knock him out or choke him out.
JL - Last time out you fought the tough Nills Van Noord, losing via decision. What went wrong in that fight? What would you have done differently?
LC - I had no info on him and thought he was just stand up so his ground game took me by surprise. He was a tough guy. I nearly knocked him out and had him in choke so all I'd have changed is my technique on choke was slightly off.
JL - You have recently made the decision to drop back down to middleweight, what prompted this?
LC - Well I don't have to cut to fight at light-heavyweight so I was just being lazy. But its time to get serious now. Outside of MMA I am a qualified personal trainer so I can use that knowledge to drop the weight and create extreme training regimes which get my strength and endurance to the highest level.
JL - Do you have any pre-fight rituals you go through before a fight to get mentally prepared?
LC - Yes - I watch Rocky films!
JL - If all goes well against at OMMAC this weekend, what will be next for you?
LC - I might have a fight in the Canary Island in August but nothing is confirmed yet . I will be back in Liverpool Olympia to fight the unbeaten Matt Howard on October 20.
JL - Are there any sponsors you would like to give a shout-out to?
LC - I'm sponsored by PNI Supplements. They supply my daily vitamins such as vitamin C, green tea, fish oils and so on. The PNI Protein is great and it has helped me drop weight while maintaining muscle mass.
JL - Lastly, are there any training partners of yours that UKMMA should look out for?
LC - Yes. Chris Hoban, Mike Wilkinson and Adam Parkes are up and coming stars. Also big Rob Broughton who's already in UFC and our coach is the world-class Darren Morris.
