Vitor Belfort is focused on getting another shot at the middleweight title and he thinks that his fight with Alan Belcher might be the route to it.
Now the fight between them is confirmed for UFC 153, Belfort is getting into training for the October 13 bout. He is still not fully recovered from the broken hand he suffered while training for a fight with Wanderlei Silva at UFC 147.
“I was just released to test my hand. I’m still punching a little softly but I will be 100 per cent for the fight, for sure. This is a sacrifice that I make the point to do and I kept me in shape,” he told UFC Brasil.
“Undoubtedly it is a great pleasure to fight again in Rio, even more seeing the explosion of my sport inside the country. I always dreamed of moments like this and I am very happy to fight again for my fans.”
Belfort, himself a native of Rio, does not hide his hopes that he can get back into title contention with a win over Belcher.
“He’s an excellent fighter, a very tough guy who is good in all aspects. He comes off a very good win over Rousimar Palhares,” he says.
“I’m sure this is going to be a great test for both of us. I’m focused on the belt but what is in front of me is Belcher and he is the one and I thing now on.”
