Rory MacDonald is out of his UFC 152 fight with BJ Penn.
The September 22 meeting has been cancelled after MacDonald sustained a huge cut over his eye in training.
“2day I was cut at sparring. I needed 3 layers of stitching. In total I needed 38 stitches. I’m very sad right now that I will not be healed in time to fight Sept 22,” he posted on Twitter.
“I am hoping that @bjpenndotcom will agree to have the fight on a later date in November.”

UFC president Dana White isn’t sure what will happen to the match. The UFC will need to speak with the Penn camp and consider matchmaking options before determining whether or not to keep Penn on the card against a different opponent.

Hasn't the whole point of this match up been that BJ Penn does not want to fight just anybody? Didn't he choose to fight Rory over other fighters like Josh Koacheck, who were instructed by boss Dana White, to call BJ out? Why would it be any different now?
