Shinya Aoki will headline the August 31 ONE FC event in Quezon, Philippines.
Also on the card is Brazilian bantamweight Bibiano Fernandes, whom ONE FC signed from under the noses of the UFC after offering him what he felt was a better deal. Fernandes was the Sengoku bantamweight champion before that organisation went under.
Aoki’s opponent is “due to be announced shortly”, according to ONE FC, while Fernandes will take on Gustavo Falciroli, bantamweight champion of Australian promotion Cage Fighting Championships (CFC).
Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski are also confirmed for the card. Their heavyweight fight will be their fourth meeting and takes their long-running grudge to pastures new. Their three previous fights took place under the UFC banner; this is their first venture to the Far East.
Sylvia spoke to Fighters Only this week and revealed his excitement at the Vale Tudo-style rules that ONE FC employs, allowing kicks and knees to a downed opponent in a manner reminiscent of the defunct Pride FC organisation.
Rounding out the main card, no less than three members of the legendary Gracie family will be represented - Rolles Gracie takes on Tony Bonello, Igor Gracie will battle Korea’s Jung Hwan Cha and Gregor Gracie will look to get back to his winning ways when he goes toe-to-toe with Nicholas Mann.
MMA fans from around the world can witness the action of ONE FC: PRIDE OF A NATION online via live streaming at www.onefc.livesport.tv. The undercard fights are available for viewing free-of-charge. The main card fights will be available for purchase on Pay-Per-View priced at $9.99 US.
