Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen are on collision course after all.
The two have been matched as coaches on the next instalment of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ on FX, it was revealed today.
“This should be a good one. Jon has accepted the fight. He knows the fans want to see that fight,” said Dana White, UFC president, as the match was announced.
As tradition dictates, the two will face off at the end of the season’s airing. The date set is April 27 but the location is yet to be determined.
Sonnen was offered to Jones as a late replacement opponent when Dan Henderson pulled out of the UFC 151 main event on a few days notice.
But Jones refused the fight, ostensibly on the grounds that he didn’t have time to prepare for Sonnen, and so the event was scrapped.
It led to a rift between the UFC and Jones which has damaged their relationship with each other, but it seems that Jones having agreed to a TUF coaching spot has assuaged some of the damage.
