Rogerio Nogueira is to face Rashad Evans in February, it has been reported.
Often referred to as ‘Lil’ Nog’ because he is a light-heavyweight where his twin brother Rodrigo is a heavyweight, Nogueira has not fought since December 2011 because of a string injuries.
But now his layoff is at an end and he is set to come back with a big fight against former champion Rashad Evans, according to SporTV in Brazil.
Bout agreements are not in place but the fight has been verbally agreed to, according to UFC sources, and is likely to take place on the pay-per-view event preceding Superbowl weekend.
‘Minotouro’ has won three out of his five bouts in the American organisation since joining in the wake of Pride FC’s demise.
Various injuries, particularly a ligament tear in his left knee that required several surgeries, prevented his fighting at any point in 2012.
Meanwhile Rashad Evans comes off a unanimous decision loss to Jon Jones after attempting to recover the light-heavyweight title but losing a decision to the young prodigy.
