Pat Barry and Shane Del Rosario are on collision course.
The two kickboxing stylists are matched for The Ultimate Fighter Season 16 Finale, which takes place at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on December 15.
News of the match comes directly from the UFC.
Both heavyweights are coming off losses. Del Rosario was stopped by Stipe Miocic in the second round of their May fight, which was also Del Rosario’s UFC debut.
Barry is coming off a KO loss to Lavar Johnson and is 1-1 in his last two, 1-3 in his last four. But his do-or-die style is a hit with fans and so despite a 4-5 overall UFC record, his place on the roster seems fairly solid.
Del Rosario has an extensive background in Muay Thai competition prior to switching to MMA while Barry is a kickboxer and actually moved to live in Holland for some time to train with Dutch masters such as Ernesto Hoost.
Lately Barry has been working a lot on his ground game and his wrestling. He moved to Minnesota to become part of Brock Lesnar’s ‘DeathClutch’ team, only for Lesnar to retire and the team to wind down. Barry is now with Lesnar’s former coach Greg Nelson, a highly accomplished and respected martial artist himself.
