Carwin and Nelson test clean in Nevada

Carwin and Nelson test clean in Nevada
November 9th 2012

Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin have both passed the random drug tests that were administered last month.

The two heavyweights are in Las Vegas, Nevada while filming The Ultimate Fighter season 16 (Nelson lives in Las Vegas full time anyway) and were surprise-tested by the Nevada State Athletic Commission a few weeks ago.

Urine samples were taken and were tested for performance-enhancing substances and for drugs of abuse. Both samples tested clean for both, NSAC executive Keith Kizer informed Fighters Only today.

They are due to fight at the season finale event on December 15, where Carwin will look to snap his two-fight losing streak. Nelson is 1-1 in his last two and 2-2 in his last four.

He goes into the fight off the back of a May win over Dave Herman while Nelson hasn’t fought since a loss to Junior Dos Santos in July 2011.

Wrong way round Nelson defeated Herman by KO at UFC 146 and Carwin has not fought since a loss to Dos Santos at UFC 131
