Roger Gracie has received the green light to join Team Nogueira to prepare for his fight at Strikeforce’s farewell event on January 12, 2013.
Gracie (5-1) is set to fight Anthony Smith (17-8) and Rodrigo Nogueira says he did not hesitate to approve the ten-time jiu-jitsu world champion training at his gym for the fight.
“He has been training at Black House for some time. Joinha (manager Jorge Guimaraes) commented that he was coming to visit his family and that he had an interest in spending some training at Team Nogueira. I replied that he could come any time he wanted,” Nogueira says.
“This is going to be a honor to welcome him here at our headquarters. He is a great name of jiu-jitsu and I am sure he will add much technique to our athletes.”
Rogerio 'Lil Nog' Nogueira says that he will train with Roger as well and says Wagner Prado will be one fighter who will benefit guys from the unique opportunity to spar with a jiu-jisu prodigy.
“He brings a lot of experience of the ground part to help us. It will be very good, this exchange of information. Here we will also have high-level sparrings for him to get prepared in the best way for the next Strikeforce edition,” says Rogerio.
“Besides helping me a lot, he will help Wagner Caldeirao, who has an important fight at UFC in Sao Paulo, and he can surprise the opponent with some tricks.”
