Rumors abound this week that a fight between England’s own Dan Hardy and the Afghan-Dutchman Siyar Bahadurzada is being lined up for the UFC on FUEL 7 event taking place in London, England on February 16 2013.
Fighters Only spoke to Bahadurzada today. The Afghan welterweight, who debuted earlier this year with a first-round KO of Paulo Thiago, wouldn’t say whether any official approaches had been made. But he did provocatively question whether Hardy would take the fight if they were.
“I'd love to fight Hardy in his home but I'm not sure if he will take the fight,” says Bahadurzada from Florida, where he has moved to join the Blackzilians along with former Golden Glory team mate Alistair Overeem.
“Anyways, if Hardy wants to fight me in that card, I'll be more than happy to fight him! I think he should take the fight. It's his home! Has all the support in his hometown and works in his favor.
“He will have to fight me eventually if he wants to climb up the rankings again. So why not take this chance and fight me in front of his home crowd?”
There has been no official word from the UFC as to whether the fight is being considered and Hardy has also not commented on rumor. But if it does happen, expect it to feature high on the main card of the Wembley Arena event.
