Carlos Condit and Josh Koscheck are both being linked with fights on the UFC’s event in London, England next year, Fighters Only has learned.
Well-placed sources say that the prominent welterweights are in the running for spots on the main card against as-yet undetermined opponents. Condit is coming off a decision loss to Georges St-Pierre after a failed attempt to take the welterweight title from the French-Canadian at UFC 154 last month.
The fight was a long time in the waiting after St-Pierre damaged his knee and had over a year away from fighting, but when it finally went down it delivered and provided some highlight-reel moments for both fighters.
Koscheck had a two-fight winning run snapped when he lost in a shock upset to Johny Hendricks in May this year. Prior to that he had put together wins over Matt Hughes and Mike Pierce following his own unsuccessful attempt to take the title from St-Pierre.
The source says that one or both of Condit and Koscheck are likely for the London card. Yesterday Fighters Only reported that Terry Etim and Paul Sass are also lined up for the card. All sources are reliable but of course nothing is official until the UFC makes the announcement.
Fighters Only has also learned that Thiago Silva was being lined up as an opponent for Jimi Manuwa before his UFC on FUEL 6 post-fight drug test came back positive for marijuana and earned him a six month suspension, as well as changing his win over Stanislav Nedkov to a no-contest.
