The UFC 168 world tour landed in Sao Paulo yesterday.
Dana White had the opportunity to speak with the Brazilian media about many subjects of interest regarding local fighters.
Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, for example, is in a good position for both middleweight and light heavyweight rankigns. The wins over Chris Camozzi and Yushin Okami helped him take important steps in the 185lbs division and his next fight might be against another idol from Brazil.
“Jacare is a great fighter and he beat Okami in a sensational fashion. He is injured, but a fight between him and Vitor Belfort is a possibility,” says the UFC president.
Middleweight gained new life with Jacare’s arrival and Lyoto Machida is also about to debut in the weight class against Mark Munoz in Manchester, England. Fans can look forward to amazing bouts for the pair - but neither will feature Anderson Silva.
“I would never fight with Jacare and Lyoto, regardless that they are in my division now. Jacare is a guy who is showing he deserves the title shot and Lyoto is a personal friend, a great athlete, we train together,” says Anderson.
“If it comes to the point of fighting them, I would rather give up the belt,” he added, perhaps subtly hinting that he expects nothing less than victory in the upcoming fight rematch with Chris Weidman oj December 28.
