Jimi Manuwa is stepping in for Rogerio ‘Lil Nog’ Nogueira to face light-heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson on March 8 in London, England.
Fighters Only has confirmed the fight with several sources.
Gustafsson was told that if he beat Nogueira he would get a second chance to fight for the light-heavyweight championship. He recently came close to taking the belt from Jon Jones but lost a decision which many fans felt he had won.
Manuwa has been a wrecking machine since arriving in the UFC in September last year with a demolition job on Kyle Kingsbury. He then took TKO wins over Cyril Diabate and Ryan Jimmo, with both fighters suffering ankle injuries which ended the fight.
Official confirmation will be coming on UK television today when magazine show Beyond The Octagon airs at 9pm GMT on BT Sport, the UK’s home of UFC programming.
Also on the March 8 card in London is a rematch between Ross Pearson and Melvin Guillard. The two fought at last month’s event in Manchester, England but the fight ended in a no-contest when Pearson sustained a cut eye from what was at the time thought to be an illegal knee.
