SIXTH FIGHTERS ONLY WORLD MMA AWARDS CONFIRMED FOR THE VENETIAN LAS VEGAS
The most glamorous night in mixed martial arts heads back to The Strip on Friday 7th February 2014
LAS VEGAS – Fighters Only, the world’s leading mixed martial arts (MMA) magazine, is proud to announce that the sixth World MMA Awards ceremony will be held at The Venetian on Friday 7th February. The live 2014 event marks the Fighters Only Awards’ first appearance at The Venetian Theatre since the ceremony made its Las Vegas debut back in 2009.
Rob Hewitt, President and CEO of Fighters Only said: “What better way to showcase the most exciting year of action in mixed martial arts history than by holding this year’s ceremony in one of the best hotel resorts in the world.
“The Fighters Only Awards have grown to be recognized throughout the industry by fans and fighters alike as the Oscars of our sport. Competition for statues this year, just like the fights, has never been fiercer and we can’t wait to reveal this year’s winners in our most glamorous and star-studded ceremony yet. All we need now is the fans the vote on mass as they have done each year, and have their say on who deserves the applause.”
Devised to celebrate success and achievement within the MMA industry, the Fighters Only Awards gives fans across the globe the opportunity to cast their vote on which athletes, brands and industry professionals have made the greatest impact on the sport over the previous 12 months.
The voting website, www.worldmmaawards.com, is now live, while fans will be able to register their votes across 20 award categories – including: ‘Fight of the Year,’ ‘Knockout of the Year’ and ‘Submission of the Year’ – from midnight on December 31st 2013, through to minding on January 31st 2014.
The sixth Fighters Only World MMA Awards are also unique in that for the first and only time the voting period actually takes in a whopping 15 months of action, from October 1st 2012 through to December 31st 2013.
The reason for this is previous Awards ceremonies were split over consecutive years due to the end of year ceremony. But all that changes this year, and once the sixth Awards take place, all future events will take in a straightforward calendar year, making it easier for fans and fighters to leave their mark.
However, what that also means is that the sixth Fighters Only Awards are even more keenly contested than ever before, with an extra three months of action from the end of 2012 slapped on the front of the highlights of 2013.
Last year’s live ceremony played host to a relative “who’s who” of mixed martial arts, all stepping out onto the red carpet under a global media spotlight, and Fighters Only expect this year’s Awards to be far bigger and even more glamorous at the new Venetian venue.
The strictly black-tie event is also once more sponsored by Bodybuilding.com, the internet’s most visited health and fitness site and largest online retailer of nutritional supplements.
