Aldo says Dillashaw "surprised" Barao, looking for "payback" against Mendes

It's been over a week since Team Alpha Male's TJ Dillashaw shocked the world by defeating Renan Barao for the UFC bantamweight championship at UFC 173 but it looks like the rivalry is more heated than ever between TJ's team and Barao's camp of Nova Uniao.

Renan's teammate and UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo recently gave his thoughts on the fight and, according to the Brazilian who has yet to be beaten in the UFC, his training partner was perhaps not as well prepared as he could have been.

"Renan was well prepared, and of course [Dillashaw] was also well trained, but Dillashaw surprised him," Aldo told Brazilian radio show No Mundo da Luta. "Barao could have been better physically, mentally, everything, but he didn’t expect the way Dillashaw fought.

"Let’s say Barao was more relaxed than the other fight, he thought he would get in there as the champion, throw a punch and get the knockout," he continued. "He didn’t have his feet on the ground, a good head."

A few days after Dillashaw's victory, Team Alpha Male posted a prank photo on Instagram showing Barao's name on a list of people who'd signed up for a seminar with their head coach, Duane Ludwig.

Unsurprisingly, Jose doesn't take too kindly to the California-based MMA team taking shots at his friend after already beating him in the Octagon and it's this post-fight fun-poking that seems to have stirred up some extra motivation on the Brazilian side.

Never one to be beaten so easily, Jose was quick to fire back the his US rivals.

"By their logic, how many times would we have to sign Urijah Faber in a MMA seminar at Nova Uniao?" said Aldo. "It was lack of respect. We always defeat them, Faber always lost to us and we never did that. We always respected them. We always tried to help them, like when they came here to the gym. We never disrespected them. But it’s cool. Let’s be patient, we will meet again. I have a fight coming up with Chad [Mendes], and Barao, God willing, will fight Dillashaw again and we will get the payback."
