Jason Jackson and Patchy Mix both dethroned reigning champions as Bellator 301 saw two major title changes in Chicago.

Jackson produced one of the bigger shocks in recent Bellator championship history as he handed long-reigning champion Yaroslav Amosov the first defeat of his 28-fight career to claim the welterweight title in the main event.

Jackson shut down Amosov’s wrestling and punished him on the feet en route to a sensational third-round knockout victory as “The Ass-Kicking Machine” rose to the top of the 170-pound division.

Mix, meanwhile, turned to a familiar route to victory as he claimed the 13th submission win of his career to defeat bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis via second-round rear-naked choke to unify the bantamweight titles and underline his status as the best 135-pounder under the Bellator banner.

The night also saw main card victories for former interim bantamweight champion Raufeon Stots and former featherweight champ AJ McKee, who continued his rise up the lightweight division with a unanimous decision victory over Sidney Outlaw.

There was also a big win for Alexander Shabliy, who dominated former champion Patricky Pitbull to move into the final of the Bellator Lightweight World Grand Prix.
