Oktagon MMA is set to bring a new reality TV show to the UK and Ireland, and they’ve signed up two big names to serve as rival coaches for the season.

“Oktagon Challenge: England vs. Ireland” will see eight fighters compete in a tournament bracket as they bid to become the overall winner of the season. But the show involves more than just training and fighting.

Over the course of the eight-episode season, the two teams will go head-to-head in special non-MMA challenges designed to take the fighters, and their coaches, out of their comfort zones to showcase the personality and competitive spirit of each athlete.

The teams will be led by two coaches, one MMA legend, and one talented current fighter. Team England will be led by former UFC star and head coach of Great Britain Top Team, Brad “One Punch” Pickett, with 6-2 lightweight and Levels Fight League 155-pound champion Akonne Wanliss as his assistant.

Team Ireland, meanwhile, will be spearheaded by Irish flyweight hero Paddy “The Hooligan” Holohan, with assistance coming from Oktagon MMA lightweight star Shem Rock.

The season will run for eight episodes, with the eight-man field set to be whittled down to the final two fighters, who will face off in the series finale at the inaugural Oktagon MMA event on UK soil, which takes place at the AO Arena in Manchester, on Saturday, November 4.

The show format has already proved a huge success in the Czech Republic and Germany, and now it’s coming to the UK and Ireland, with the show set to be aired on DAZN and Oktagon.tv.

Fighter lineups for both teams will be announced in due course.
