Cage Warriors 113: Bartosz Fabinski bests Darren Stewart in UFC fight main event

Following the cancellation of UFC London – which was scheduled for 21st March – due to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, two UFC fighters managed to find a fight on last night’s Cage Warriors 113 card.

UFC welterweight Bartosz Fabinski stepped up in weight to take on middleweight Darren “The Dentist” Stewart in the night’s main event.

Donning Cage Warriors’ iconic yellow gloves, the pair fought to a decision.

Stewart’s striking prowess and power would have made Poland’s Fabinski very wary. In one of the first skirmishes, Stewart sliced open Fabinski’s head which would have been a significant warning shot of the danger the Londoner poses.

So Fabinski reverted to his grappling skills. “The Butcher” landed plenty of takedowns throughout the rest of the three rounds, dominating his opponent on the ground.

The judges rightly scored the fight in Fabinski’s favour for a unanimous decision victory, which sees him get over his loss last time out in the cage against Michel Prazeres.

Cage Warriors 113: Mason Jones lifts vacant Cage Warriors gold with TKO win over Joe McColgan

It didn’t take long for Mason Jones to realise his dream of lifting Cage Warriors gold.

On Friday night, the undefeated Welsh lightweight ended Northern Ireland’s Joe McColgan inside the first round.

The end sequence saw Jones back McColgan up to the cage with a flurry of punches. Jones then drove a knee straight through McColgan’s defences to leave him crumpled on the canvas.

A few follow-up punches finished off the job as referee Rich Mitchell called the fight off.

TKO win and now Jones extends his unbeaten record to 9-0 as he won the vacant Cage Warriors lightweight championship.

Cage Warriors 113: Paddy Pimblett gets quick TKO win over Decky Dalton

Cage Warriors favourite Paddy Pimblett returned to winning ways with a dominant TKO win over Decky Dalton on Friday night.

The Liverpudlian’s grappling prowess was too much for Belfast’s Dalton.

On the ground, Pimblett’s dominant, smothering top control had Dalton in all kinds of bother. Dalton would try bucking and squirming out of his bad position on the ground, but Pimblett never gave up position as he drove down punches in the process.

Eventually, the punishment proved too much for Dalton as his failure to get out of this compromising position led to referee Rich Mitchell calling a stop to the action, snapping Dalton’s four-fight winning run.
