On the final night of Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020, four fighters were offered UFC contracts.

Those fighters who impressed UFC President White enough to offer deals were J.P. Buys, Gloria de Paula, Tucker Lutz and Victoria Leonardo.

Find out how these four fighters won their contracts below!

In the main event of Week 10, South Africa’s J.P. Buys finished off a spectacular run of DWCS which saw 37 fighters earn their spots on the UFC roster in 2020.

Buys scored an early takedown and absolutely had his way with opponent Jacob Silva down on the mat.

He eventually worked his way to snatch a guillotine choke with seconds remaining in the first round. It was in tight, but referee Marc Goddard stopped the fight despite Silva not tapping nor falling unconscious.

Silva protested, but it was Buys who got the technical submission win and was promptly awarded a UFC contract.

Gloria de Paula decisions Pauline Macias to win UFC contract

Gloria de Paula ended Pauline Macias’ unbeaten run as a professional fighter with a commanding performance in their three-round women’s strawweight contest.

Things started well for judoka Macias when she executed a slick throw early on in the fight, but de Paula’s takedown defence stood up from then on as she poured punishment on her outmatched opponent.

De Paula was relentless in her attacks and was able to land damaging knees and elbows in the clinch and powerful ground and pound on the canvas.

All three judges scored the fight in de Paual’s favour to award her the unanimous decision win.

Tucker Lutz earns unanimous decision win over Sherrard Blackledge

Tucker Lutz looked totally at ease in all areas of mixed martial arts as he won a unanimous decision against Sherrard Blackledge.

On the feet, Lutz was the more comfortable as he probed Blackledge with punches and leg kicks at range. In the grappling exchanges, though, Lutz was far away the more proficient combatant.

Lutz was able to handily control Blackledge in the clinch and down on the floor. Blackledge was taken down and quickly found himself in a lot of bother in the first round as Lutz moved to full mount.

In the second round, Lutz looked to have secured a guillotine choke but Blackledge managed to survive. Though he wasn’t submitted, Blackledge’s resistence came at a cost as his energy levels drained enough to concede two further takedowns in the third round to rightly see Lutz earn the unanimous decision win.

Victoria Leonardo finishes Chelsea Hackett

Victoria Leonardo handed Chelsea Hackett her first loss in professional MMA en route to earning her UFC contract on Tuesday night.

The Invicta FC veteran opted to take Hackett down as the Australian was having by far the better time in the striking exchanges on the feet.

Hackett buzzed Leonardo once again with a right hand in the second round, prompting Leonardo to execute another takedown.

From there, Leonardo moved to full mount to deliver some nasty ground and pound to secure the stoppage victory.
