Henry Cejudo is back in the USADA testing pool and working his way back to a UFC return. But, with “Triple C’s” shelves already heaving under the weight of wrestling trophies, Olympic medals and championship belts, he’s heading back to the octagon with a different motivation – money.
“We’re gonna see what the UFC is looking for (and) what we want. And, you know, I’m out here to make money,” he told The MMA Underground at Eagle FC 47.
“My motivator is not the belts now. Now I see I see price tags on all these dudes. And that’s the only way.
“I’ve done everything in the world, man, from Olympic gold medals, had two UFC belts, defended both of them. Nobody has my resume. So now every time I see somebody, I see them dollar signs on their damn face, and I’m here to collect.”
Cejudo is almost ready for a return, but when asked why he hadn’t pulled the trigger already, he said the moment had to be right, and we’re almost at that point where he’s ready to jump back into the fray once again.
“(It was) the fact that I needed a break, I needed a break,” he explained.
“And, you know, I wanted to feel that hunger once again. I felt like the only way that I’m gonna feel that hunger once again is to be motivated by freedom and money, especially being a father now.
“So like I said, man, I see price tags. I when I see Aljamain Sterling I see a dollar sign on his damn face. I don’t even see him. Nor TJ nor any of these scrubs, you know, so that’s just plain and simple.
“I want them all, you know? They’re all going to be taken out, and then that’s it. I’m gonna be freaking cashing in these cheques at the bank.”
