Hexagone MMA 9 fight card confirmed, heavyweight title on the line in Reims

The Hexagone heavyweight championship will be on the line when the French promotion heads to Reims next month.

Prince Aounallah will take on Paul-Emmanuel Gnaze for the heavyweight strap in the main event of Hexagone MMA 9, which takes place on June 17 at Reims Arena. The event also marks the home debut of French fan-favorite Anthony Dizy.

Before the big hitters go head to head in the main event, Dizy will make his return to action on home soil. Dizy has competed for a number of promotions over the course of his 18-fight pro career, including Bellator, Cage Warriors, BAMMA, M-1 Global, and the PFL. In his first home fight, he will face Peruvian Roger Garcia in a lightweight bout.

Alongside new faces are athletes that have already graced the Hexagone MMA cage. Standouts include social media star Matthieu Letho Duclos facing Spaniard Geison Santana Moreno in a middleweight matchup. Attaining popularity through his refereeing of amateur fights on the Youtube channel IbraTV, the Frenchman has since proven himself to be formidable in the cage with his last two victories by KO.

Ditto for aspirational lightweight Abu Tounkara who will face British Cage Warriors’ veteran Tim Barnett for a battle between finishers.

Finally, true to usual form, Hexagone MMA will pay homage to local fighters in Reims. In addition to Anthony Dizy, other notable local fighters on the card include Sofiane Aissaoui, who faces Peruvian Cristiano Estela Rios, and Alexis Fontes, who takes on compatriot Kevin Del.

“To build a good card you have to include a little bit of everything,” said Hexagone MMA’s matchmaker and sports director Mathieu Nicourt.

“We are highly satisfied with how this one has come together. There are circuit legends, prospects and regional fighters in the mix. It’s going to be a huge night.”
