UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will get his chance at becoming a two-division UFC champion against light heavyweight king Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259.

UFC 259 takes place on 6 March and will also feature a women’s featherweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Megan Anderson. At the time of writing, no location has been announced for the event.

Dana White confirmed that the fight is booked to ESPN‘s Brett Okamoto on Wednesday night.

This will be Blachowicz’s first defence of his UFC light heavyweight crown. The Pole defeated Dominick Reyes by knockout to win the title vacated by Jon Jones at UFC 253.

Adesanya is 20-0 in MMA and the kickboxer has nine wins as a competitor on the UFC roster.

“The Last Stylebender” defeated Robert Whittaker in October, 2019 at UFC 243 to win his middleweight championship and has two title defences to his name and reign, posting wins over Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa.

If Adesanya is successful in winning the UFC light heavyweight belt, he will be one of eight fighters to have ever become a two-division UFC champion.
