Former KSW featherweight title challenger Daniel Rutkowski faces a formidable threat as he looks to position himself for another shot at the Polish promotion’s 145-pound title.
Rutkowski lost out to Salahdine Parnasse in a failed title bid last time out at KSW 68 in March as his 13-fight win streak came to an abrupt end. Now he’s set to return to action against TUF Brazil winner and UFC veteran Reginaldo Vieira in the co-main event of KSW 73 in Warsaw, Poland on August 20.
Vieira has agreed to step in on short notice to replace Germany’s Lom-Ali Eskijew, who was forced out of the event due to illness. The matchup will offer Vieira the chance to gatecrash the title picture, while Rutkowski faces a dangerous grappler with 13 submission wins to his name.
Rutkowski will likely look to keep matters standing in a bid to add to his seven KO/TKO victories, while avoiding the Brazilian’s submission threat, as he looks to claim a notable bounceback win to keep himself in the featherweight title conversation.
The bout forms the chief supporting fight, with the night’s all-Polish headliner featuring a battle of former kickboxing stars, with former Glory kickboxing standout Arkadiusz Wrzosek making his professional MMA debut against fellow ex-kickboxer Tomasz Sarara, who is 1-0 under MMA rules.
