The vacant light heavyweight title will be up for grabs at Cage Warriors 148 as the promotion looks to crown a new champion at 205 pounds on New Year’s Eve.

The event, which takes place at The Indigo at The O2 in London, has been bolstered by the addition of the championship bout, with former champion Modestas Bukauskas set to face hard-hitting American Chuck Campbell for the vacant title.

Following a four-fight stint in the UFC and a lengthy spell rehabbing after knee surgery, Bukauskas returned to Cage Warriors and picked up a hard-earned decision victory over former middleweight champion Lee Chadwick at Cage Warriors 145 to put right back in the championship mix.

And he’s been put straight into a title fight with Chuck Campbell, who earned his shot with an impressive one-round TKO of Andy Clamp at Cage Warriors 146.

The pair will face off for the vacant 205-pound title as part of Cage Warriors’ “Team Europe vs. Team USA” series, which will stream live on UFC Fight Pass on December 31.

The bout joins another championship bout on the card, with flyweight champion Sam Creasey’s rescheduled title defense against Shajudul Haque also confirmed for the event.
