Cage Warriors’ upcoming event in London has been further strengthened by the addition of one of the promotion’s biggest stars.

Jordan Vucenic is the former Cage Warriors featherweight champion, and a huge fan-favorite with the promotion. The Corby native always brings an army of fans to his fights, and the Indigo at The O2 is set to be packed with Vucenic fans once again as he returns to action at Cage Warriors 157 on July 21.

Vucenic is set to take on promotional newcomer Brice Picaud, with the Frenchman arriving in Cage Warriors with a record of 13-8 (1 no contest) having won six of his last seven.

He’ll provide the latest test for Vucenic, who is looking to position himself for a shot at the title he once held. “The Epidemic” captured the 145-pound strap with a split-decision win over French star Morgan Charriere in March 2021, then defended it against James Hendin a year later. But defeat to Paul Hughes last November saw his title reign come to an end.

Vucenic bounced back in March with a second-round rear-naked choke finish of Tiziano Ferranti at Cage Warriors 150, and now he’s looking to register back-to-back victories with a win over Picaud, who is riding a four-fight win streak heading into the matchup.

Also booked for London is a crowd-pleasing clash at 135 pounds, as rising English talent Lone’er Kavanagh takes on German-based Brazilian Shawn Da Silva.

Both men looked outstanding in their most recent outings for Cage Warriors, with Kavanagh lighting up the cage with a spectacular spinning heel kick knockout of Davide Scarano at Cage Warriors last time out. He’s undefeated at 5-0, and will be targeting another highlight-reel finish against a man who brings as much excitement and entertainment to the cage as he does.

Da Silva is also 5-0, and won over the fans with his larger-than-life personality and exciting fighting style at Cage Warriors Unplugged 2 in March, where he finished Kiru Singh Sahota via second-round TKO.

The matchup between the pair pits two of Cage Warriors’ most exciting up-and-coming talents head to head, and should deliver a spectacular matchup for the London crowd.

Also added to the card is a featherweight matchup between Cage Warriors stalwart Tom Mearns and promotional newcomer Baily Gilbert.

Mearns has been a mainstay at Cage Warriors shows over recent years, and after seeing a three-fight win streak halted by rising prospect Milad Ahady at Cage Warriors 146 last time out, he’ll be keen to get back to winning ways against Gilbert, who enters the Cage Warriors fray with an 8-4 record. But, more importantly, he does so riding a six-fight win streak, with all six victories coming inside the distance.

The event, which takes place the night before the UFC Fight Night event in London, features a battle for the middleweight title in the main event slot, with newly-crowned champion Mick Stanton putting the 185-pound title on the line against former champ James Webb.
