The UFC is set to host its first show in Saudi Arabia on March 2, 2024, per reports.
ESPN first reported that the UFC has lined up a UFC Fight Night event to take place as part of the Riyadh Season cultural series of events. No bouts have been announced for the event so far.
The news follows closely on the heels of the announcement that the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund had purchased a minority stake in the Professional Fighters League (PFL).
Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in sports over the last couple of years, with huge investment placed in their LIV Golf tour, the Saudi Pro League, as well as bringing Formula 1 to the region.
The latest big event set for Saudi Arabia takes place later this month, as former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou takes on WBC heavyweight champion of the world Tyson Fury in a non-title fight dubbed “The Battle of the Baddest,” on October 28.
