Birmingham’s Leon Edwards will make his second appearance of 2017 when he meets Bryan Barberena on September 2 at UFC Fight Night 115 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Since losing to Kamaru Usman in December 2015, Jamaican-born Edwards, 13-3, has won three on the bounce, two via decision and one by submission, and is enjoying the form of his UFC career, having first gained attention following an eight-second knockout of Seth Baczynski back in April 2015. The last time ‘Rocky’ appeared in Rotterdam he defeated Dominic Waters over three rounds.
Barnberena, meanwhile, is 13-4 in his MMA career and recently rebounded from a loss to Colby Covington by stopping Joe Proctor inside a round. That fight, Barberena’s return to lightweight following a stint at 170-pounds, took place in April and marked his fourth UFC win. Previously he had claimed the scalps of Sage Northcutt, Warlley Alves and Joe Ellenberger.
UFC Fight Night 115 takes place at the Ahoy Rotterdam Arena and is headlined by the intriguing heavyweight clash between Dutchman Stefan Struve and Russian Alexander Volkov.
