Road Fighting Championship will hold its first-ever overseas event in Tokyo, Japan on July 15th.  ROAD FC 24 will take place at the 10,000-seat Ariake Coliseum.

Korean MMA and kickboxing superstar Hong Man Choi will make his return at the event, after an absence of almost six years from competition.

Seven-foot-one Choi made his MMA debut back in December 2006 at K-1 Premium Dynamite!! 2006, winning against Bobby Ologun via TKO in 16 seconds. He has competed in high-profile bouts against MMA legends Fedor Emelianenko and Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic. He last fought in MMA at Dream 11 in October 2009 against Ikuhisa Minowa, losing via heel hook submission. His pro MMA record stands at 2-3.

“We’ve worked towards this for the past five years, now all the rehearsals are over,” said Road FC CEO Moon Hong Jung. “Japan will led the advance, proving that we want to work together to expand Korean MMA around the world.  ROAD FC will be South Korea’s first MMA league to export to a foreign country and it will surely be a success story.”

The event will also see Korean stars Mu Bae Choi and Yoon Dong-sik compete. Opponents for all three athletes have not yet been confirmed.
