Adriano Moraes won the interim flyweight title by beating Tilek Batyrov at One Championship 45 on Saturday at the Cotai arena in Macau, China.

The win over his short-notice opponent – by rear-naked choke with just 11 seconds remaining in round two – sets up a rematch with 23-0 Kazakh title holder, Kairat Akhmetov, who defeated the Brazilian by split decision at One Championship 34 in November.

The evening’s lightweight co-main event saw some spectacular striking on display as  Eduard Folayang took Adrian Pang apart to claim a decision, though he might have wondered how he failed to put his opponent away.

Honorio Banario won the evening’s fight of the night after surviving an early onslaught from Edie Ng. The Pilipino finished strongly, which under One’s scoring criteria was enough to earn a unanimous nod from the judges.

The shock of the night came when Aussie featherweight tapped Christian Lee – brother of atomweight champion Angela – to hand the 18-year-old the first defeat of his career.

Further down the card, hopes for a rematch of one of the fights of the year between Angela Lee and Mei Yamaguchi were dashed when Brazilian Istela Nunes earned a split-decision win over the Japanese veteran.
