Cage Warriors Fighting Championship today announced the expansion of its current broadcast team. European UFC announcer Andy Friedlander, and Sky Sports pundit and England rugby international Alex Corbisiero will join its on-screen presentation team.
Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan believes these appointments will help strengthen the European look and feel.
“It’s good to have the experienced and well-respected voices of Andy and Alex front-of-house for Cage Warriors,” said Boylan in the official press release. “In live broadcast and in a sport where anything can happen we know that they will take it all in their stride. We need to create a distinctive European MMA voice – the addition of Andy and Alex to the team will help us do that.”
The arrangement will see Andy Friedlander work the remaining Cage Warriors events in 2016 as well as all planned events for 2017, making his debut at CWFC 77 on July 8th when the promotion returns to London, England.
Speaking to Fighters Only, Andy Friedlander could hardly contain his excitement in the appointment.
“Like any ambitious fighter on the rise, I need frequent MC action to stay razor sharp,” said Friedlander. “So when CW called, I answered. I’m the reigning, defending, undisputed 185lb announcing world champ and live on UFC Fight Pass. Excited, primed and ready!”
Corbisiero will join veteran commentator Brad Wharton and Cage Warriors matchmaker Ian Dean in the commentary booth as well as handling the on-air interviews.
Cage Warriors 77 is headlined by Jack Marshman vs. Christopher Jacquelin who will fight for the vacant CWFC middleweight world championship. The event will be broadcast on UFC Fight Pass on Friday at 1pm PT, 4pm ET and 9pm GMT.
