Brent Primus’ submission victory over Tim Wilde is nominated for the Submission of the Year in the 12th annual World MMA Awards.

In May, 2019 American Brent Primus upset a Birmingham, England crowd when he submitted local lad Tim Wilde in spectacular fashion with a rarely-seen gogoplata.

The pair started the fight pensively, with Primus taking the centre of the cage and throwing out leg kicks to keep Wilde’s karate-based striking at bay.

An errant leg kick from Primus was countered with a darting right straight from Wilde, sending the former crashing to the floor.

Wilde followed his fallen opponent down to try and score an early finish, but Primus immediately worked on a gogoplata, shoving his shin under the chin of the Wolverhampton native on top of him.

Primus relentlessly pulled down on Wilde’s head and the Englishman couldn’t escape, tapping 80 seconds into the fight.

Is Brent Primus’ gogoplata submission win over Tim Wilde your Submission of the Year?
