UFC Fight Night 99 in Belfast has had a main-event switcheroo. Gegard Mousasi is now set to rematch Uriah Hall in the headline bout after thecancelation of Gunnar Nelson vs. Dong Hyun Kim.

Nelson was forced out due to injury but the specific nature of the injury was not disclosed. Following his co-main event win over Vitor Belfort at UFC 204 earlier this month in Manchester, Gegard Mousasi has been asked to make the trip back to the UK and has been granted the rematch he’s been chasing for the past year – an opportunity to get one back on Uriah Hall.

Just over a year ago at UFC Fight Night 75 in Japan, Hall defeated Mousasi early in the second round with a spectacular spinning back kick followed by a flying knee and a flurry of punches. Since then Mousasi has been on a tear and put together a nice three-fight win streak, which secured him the #5 spot in the UFC official rankings. Since their first meeting, Hall hasn’t been able to capitalise – losing to Robert Whittaker by decision and more recently Derek Brunson via first-round knockout.

Just days before the injury to Nelson and fight announcement, ‘The Dreamcatcher’ spoke to The Sun and spoke of his desire to get his revenge.

“I would have been on a six (fight) winning streak if that (defeat) didn’t happen,” Mousasi said. “I talk bad about Uriah Hall all the time, but I don’t dislike the guy. He won the fight, fair and square. But do I feel like I was the better fighter and he set me back? Yeah. I’m upset with myself – it has nothing to do with Uriah Hall. Is that a fight I want to prove that I am the better fighter, then go from there? Yeah, definitely.”
