Most people will likely recognize Josh Herdman as an actor from the acclaimed Harry Potter movies, but the 28-year-old who portrayed the character of Gregory Goyle in the film series has transitioned from the big screen to the cage.

Herdman won his amateur MMA debut at Rise of Champions 2 on April 23rd with a unanimous decision victory over Janusz Walachowski. The bout was contested at a catchweight of 175lb (80kg). The UK-based ROC promotion is run by UFC veteran Brad Pickett.

Herdman, who is also father to one son, has appeared in other, smaller productions including Common People and, most recently, UK drama Sink.

With eight movies in the series, Harry Potter grossed over $2.3 billion at the box office. The seven-book series, written by JK Rowling, which the movies were based on have sold over 400 million copies. The HP brand is valued at over $15 billion.
